How to wear Black Suede

Most people actually like black suede but for some reason are afraid of wearing it. But why are you afraid of it?

The first myth is that suede is delicate. Not true. Cheap suede is delicate. Quality suede is not. Many high-end suedes are actually treated for water repelling. Therefore, you do not need to worry about ruining it so easily by going out in the rain. Good suede endures.

Another reason is that the black does not stay black. Again, good quality maintains. But of course, upkeep is always needed for anything that involves looking one’s best. You must maintain it.

You can do so by Good steaming i.e.
  • Hold your Suede shoes over the steam issuing out from a boiling kettle or pot for a few minutes. The steam will dilate the leather making it easier to remove embedded dirt and also restoring the shoe’s softness while rejuvenating the colour
  • Brush it down with soft, short strokes, in one direction
  • Then you let it dry and relax.
Also brush it down daily so that dust does not remain on the suede. A good steaming and brush down goes a long way in keeping the colour vibrant.

Black suede is easy to wear, acceptable in most dress-style environments and easy to maintain provided one is not a clumsy walker, hitting all of the piles of dirt and spilling liquid on it. Thus embrace the black suede and find yourself with a new option to look forward to.
